Barry Pritchard, City Centre Development Project Manager
We've enormous plans for regeneration of the city centre of Leicester. To begin with we are taking out a significant amount of traffic that does not need to be there, and then rebuilding the streets to a very high standard. There will be lots of open space new street furniture, feature lighting and plenty of places for people to sit. The whole space will be really vibrant and exciting which will allow the shops and the street cafes to spill out into the space, we'll create places that people will really want to be.
Deborah Rose, Development Team Manager, Leicester City Council
This is the fantastic area that will become Leicester's new Waterside, with the canal, river and the rally park right at the heart of it, modern houses, shops, offices and everything you need to create a vibrant community. Imagine what it's going to be like to walk along the waterside and enjoy a drink or a meal at one of the fabulous Waterside restaurants or bars. It's going to be here for everyone to enjoy including the existing people of Leicester, but also the new people were trying to attract into the city to live, work and shop here.
