Environmental Documents

The Council operates to the exacting European EMAS (Eco Management and Audit Scheme) standard for managing its environmental impact.  Each year, we produce an Environmental Statement so that the people of Leicester can judge the environmental performance of their council.  This is the most recent Statement that covers the period April 2008 – March 2009.

Leicester City Council is committed to transforming Leicester into "Britain's sustainable city".  This is the overall goal of the One Leicester 25 year vision for the city, which the Council is working towards in partnership with other key organisations.

Our Environmental Policy supports this goal, focusing on reducing our carbon footprint, creating a quality local environment and the wise use of natural resources.

The purpose of this guide is to help minimise Leicester City Council’s impact on the environment by providing staff with information and practical help to assist them to buy or specify products which are sustainable.

It sets out the Council's Sustainable Procurement Policy and gives tips and advice on how to procure sustainable goods, works and services.
