Free courses in craft trades for women, taught by women

Women in Construction courses are free taster sessions for women (aged 15 and over) who are interested in finding out more about work in craft trades and gaining hands-on experience. The courses are run every year.

What trades are offered?

The courses allow women of any age to try their hand at:
  • bricklaying
  • carpentry
  • plastering
  • plumbing
  • painting and decorating

When are the courses held?

The women-only courses run during the Easter school holidays. The dates for 2012 are Monday 2nd April to Friday 13th April (excluding public holidays and weekends). You can attend as many days of the course as you wish to.

Where are the courses held?

The courses is held at Leicester College's Freeman' s Park Campus - Construction Department.

When will I find out if I have been allocated a place?

We will send out confirmation of your place and the dates you have been allocated during week commencing 19th March 2012.

Qualified tradeswomen have the potential to earn up to £500 a week. See our section about apprenticeships to find out more about nationally recognised training and pay for apprentices during training.
