Leicester City Council is working with
local schools and communities to help inform women about the diverse roles on offer
within its' apprenticeship programme.
The apprenticeship programme lasts for five years and offers a broad framework of learning, comprising classroom based and on the job training. It offers great flexibility to students who apply themselves better through practical training. Apprentices work alongside experienced craft trade staff to gain skills in electrics, plastering, carpentry, plumbing, painting and decorating, bricklaying, gas servicing and maintenance while working towards an NVQ qualification level 2 at college.
A team of qualified trades women is available to visit your school or community centre to
discuss the effectiveness of the programme and offer a presentation and demonstration to teachers, career advisors and young women students.
To arrange a visit by craftswomen to your school call (0116) 224 3463 or email us.
If you have already booked a visit by the craftswomen at your school, download a poster to promote the event!
