What is STAR?
STAR is a housing related support service for people living in Leicester.
This means we can…..
- help people who are losing their home
- help people keep their home
- help people who are moving into a new home
And we can also help with other things like:
- Living skills
- Money management
- Health and wellbeing
- Feeling safe
- Confidence
- Social / community networks
- Training / education
- Employment
- Parenting
- Substance use
Your worker will provide support in one-to-one sessions. You will agree on a support plan with your STAR worker to work towards achieving your goals. E.g:
Money Matters:
- Maximising income
- Debt reduction
- Finding paid work
Education and Leisure:
- Training
- Education
- Leisure
- Contact with friends, family and the community
Being Healthy:
- Accessing health care and specialist services
- Promoting a healthier way of life for you and others
Staying Safe:
- Reducing the chance of harm In the home and in the wider community
Making a positive contribution:
- Getting involved and making a difference in whatever you choose
There are six teams based across the city. The teams have shop fronted offices on:
STAR also has support workers based in other services which include:
- Drug and alcohol services
...making the service accessible to all across the city.
STAR teams
The teams consist of Housing related support workers, team assistant (administration), senior case worker and a team leader, who are always on-hand to help.
Each tenancy support worker carries approximately 16 cases and can work with a service user for up to two years.
STAR is funded by Supporting People and managed by Leicester City Council.
STAR is accessible to anyone in the city of Leicester regardless of age, gender, disability, religion / beliefs, race or sexual orientation.

Support workers and agencies can make referrals to STAR by filling in an online referral form.
