We are improving the way we involve tenants and leaseholders by setting up a Tenants’ & Leaseholders' Forum. This group will be made up of 14 tenants and 1 leaseholder representative from across the city.
The role of the Forum will be to examine housing services, monitor how well the service is doing, carry out inspections of specific services, respond to consultations related to housing and make recommendations of where
improvements can be made.
Forum members will be expected to attend approximately four meetings a year, be involved in inspecting services, and attend local estate meetings when the need is identified. In return we will provide training opportunities and pay expenses, such as transport costs and caring expenses,
for example child care.
In May 2012 we advertised for volunteers and had a very positive response. Four briefing sessions were held during May / June 2012 to provide more information to volunteers, so they could make an informed decision about being a Tenants' & Leaseholders' Forum Member. In June we worked with other involved tenants to select the Forum members. We now have 13 tenants and 1 leaseholder members. We still need one more volunteer for the Braunstone area. During July members will be receiving induction training before the first meeting of the forum on 31st July 2012.
If you would like to know more about the Forum or other ways of getting involved, please contact Kala Parmar on 0116 2526255 or
