Welfare Rights Service

Services we offer

The Welfare Rights Service provides free information and assistance to help people obtain their correct benefit entitlements. We offer a confidential service, independent from other parts of the council (including Revenues and Benefits) to all the people of Leicester.

We provide advice on all welfare benefits to the people of Leicester. We can check that you are getting all the benefits you are entitled to, and advise on claims that need to be made. If we cannot help we can pass you to organisations that can help you complete forms or give advice on housing, debt or immigration.

We can also help people if they have been turned down for benefit and want to appeal. We can provide representation at  First-tier and Upper Tribunals.

In 2012, the Welfare Rights Service raised over £6 million in additional benefits and tax credits for Leicester residents. The Welfare Rights Service was successful in most cases with an average award per client of over £2,000.
