Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept CVs?

No we need to have a fully completed application form so that our process is fair to all applicants and the same criteria is taken into account.


Can I apply for more than one job at a time?

Yes however you will need  to complete a separate application for each post which

has the post reference number and title included on it. Your personal details will

automatically be populated with the information provided.


Can I apply for a job share basis? 

Yes and you can indicate this preference on the application form. Should you be

successful after interview then your preference would be considered.


Do I have to disclose a criminal record?

This depends on the post that you are applying for and whether or not it is one  covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act. Clear guidance is given on this area  for each vacancy that the council has however, certain posts that involve working directly with children or vulnerable adults would require disclosure of convictions otherwise considered spent.   


How do I apply?

If you are interested in a job you can apply online. You will need to register first with an email address. 


How will I know if you have received my application form?

You will receive an automated email confirming receipt of your application. Please add our email address to your 'Safe Senders List'. Please check that the automated email has not gone in your junk mail prior to contacting us.


How can I receive email alerts for future jobs?

You can register your details to receive an automated email alert for any job that match your requirements by clicking onto the ‘Add Email Alert’ link on the login page.


Have I been shortlisted?

You can track your application via your online account. We will also send you an email to update you throughout the recruitment process. 


How much notice will I be given if invited for a test or interview?

Usually the dates for tests and adverts will be advertised on the job notice where possible. Where this is not possible, we aim to provide you with at least 7 days notice.


How can I request feedback?    

Your can request feedback by emailing specifying the post number, title and your full name.


What pre employment checks are required?

This depends on the post you have applied for however the following checks are required for most roles; references, medical assessment, Criminal Records Bureau check, qualifications and proof of eligibility to work in the UK.


How much will I get paid?

The salary range for the post is as advertised and will be confirmed in your contract.


When will I get paid?

All employees are paid on the penultimate working day of each month, the only  exception to this is in December where you may receive your pay earlier in the month.


Can I join the pension scheme at the start of my employment?

Yes,  you will be auto-enrolled for the pension scheme.
