Designed by award-winning architects Marsh Grochowski. Phoenix Square Opened to the public on 17th November 2009, Phoenix Square is a truly unique cultural building, fusing together independent arts, cinema and immersive digital gallery, individually designed homes, office studios and creative workspaces.
Phoenix Square is the first independent cinema in the East Midlands to have two cinemas with 3D, digital and 35mm capabilities. Throughout the year, the programme includes exhibitions, performances, festivals, artist residencies, off-site projects, workshops, education activities, seminars and conferences. Digital production facilities include a TV studio, digital editing suites and sound and graphic suites.
Phoenix Square proudly boasts the De Montfort University Cube - a
unique, interactive digital art space where poetry meets gaming, image
meets sound and performance meets installation. The screen lounge cafe bar is a great meeting
place and venue for digital and live presentations.
Phoenix Square Film and Digital Media is managed and operated by Leicester Arts Centre Ltd, an independent charitable organisation with financial support from Leicester City Council, EM-Media and De Montfort University.
