Diwali Lights Switch On

Diwali Lights

 

This years Diwali Lights Switch On ceremony was on Sunday 4th October, 6.00pm - 8.30pm. The Diwali lights on Belgrave Road were switched on at 7.30pm after the entertainment.

 

The ceremony begin at 6.00pm and was attended by The Right Worshipful the Lord Mayor of Leicester, Councillor Roger Blackmore, Leicester Hindu Festival Council and other dignitaries. The fireworks display took place on Cossington Street Recreation Ground at 8.00pm.

 

In the interests of public safety, members of the public are asked not to bring fireworks to the celebrations. Both the City Council and the Emergency Services take the issue of fireworks very seriously and the use of fireworks in a public area will not be tolerated. Event stewards will report to the police any people letting off fireworks.
