Leicester’s Diwali 2009 celebrations are being sponsored by Alliance and Leicester, part of the Santander Group* This is the seventh consecutive year that the company is sponsoring this major festival in the city.

Diwali is the Festival of Light, representing the triumph of good over evil, light over darkness and friendship over adversity. This is a time of peace and reflection, and the opportunity to spend time with the family. Overall, Diwali is a time of celebration, and we are very proud to be supporting this event for the seventh consecutive year, playing our part in making Leicestershire a better place in which to live and work.
Councillor Andy Connelly, Leicester City Council's Cabinet lead for culture, said "Leicester's Diwali celebrations are well-known.
