Our venue opening hours are as follows:

New Walk Museum & Art Gallery, Newarke Houses Museum & Gardens:

Monday – Saturday 10.00am – 5.00pm
Sunday: 11.00am – 5.00pm

N.B. New Walk Museum, Newarke Houses Museum closed 24th, 25th, 26th and 31st December 2013 as well as 1st January 2014

Abbey Pumping Station*, The Guildhall**, Jewry Wall Museum*:

Monday – Sunday 11.00am – 4.30pm

* Closed for winter November - January (except for special events)


** The Guildhall has extended opening hours for the Richard III exhibition during Leicester city school holidays.

Object Identification Enquiries

Object identification enquiries will now be undertaken at our museums by appointment only. The exception to this is archaeological items - please bring these in to Jewry Wall Museum as before so they can be forwarded to the Finds Liaison Officer of the Portable Antiquities Scheme.

This more personal approach gives you the opportunity to discuss your object in detail with the relevant curator. Please contact the appropriate museum from the list below in order to arrange your appointment:
