Sports fans in Leicestershire are among the best served in the country. From elite teams through to grass roots, the county has just about everything covered. This exhibition highlights the depth and breadth of sport across the county, together with the ability of the Mercury's photographers to capture the best of the action as it
happens.

Rendall Munroe, sometimes nicknamed “the boxing bin-man”, the European Super
Bantamweight Champion will be talking about his rise to the top and his big fights, alongside Lauren Turner of the Leicester Ladies Hockey Club.

Mike Sewell has worked for the Leicester Mercury for ten years, during this time he has had the privilege of covering some amazing sporting events. It was because of this passion for sports photography that he was asked to curate The Back Page exhibition. Alongside the Leicester Mercury photographers, Mike Sewell produced 25 stunning sports images for the show. Mike will be talking about the thinking behind the pictures and discussing the process of exactly how they were taken. “It was a pleasure to work with the best sportsmen and women in Leicestershire and we were fortunate that they went for our crazy ideas.”

Celebrate the launch of the Leicester Mercury Back Page exhibition and the build up to the 2012 Olympics at Belgrave Hall. Step back in time and enjoy a sports day of croquet on the lawn, skittles, blindman’s bluff, three-legged race and a sack race. Also, learn about Victorian health food. £2.50 for activities.
