Whispers From a Rickshaw
13th November - 17th December 2010 (This exhibition is now closed)
New Walk Museum & Art Gallery
Climb into the “Whispers” rickshaw, put on your headphones immerse yourself in one of the intriguing stories that contemplate the nature of journeys and destiny. Classical Chinese music, visual artwork, new technology and story telling all intermingle to create a philosophical experience.
Metro-boulot-dodo are one of the UK's leading arts organisations and “Whispers From a Rickshaw” is an intimate experience that asks the essential question: Where are you going?
The concept for Whispers From a Rickshaw was initially conceived after a trip to Chongging, Southern China, at the time of the Beijing Olympics in 2008. A group of young boys playing table tennis on a stone table with bricks for a net-triggered curiosity about what these boys dreams were and whether one of them could be or aspire to be a professional table tennis player in London 2012 Olympics.
Metro-Boulot-Dodo gratefully acknowledges financial support from the PRS for Music Foundation, the Igniting Ambition programme, the European Development Fund and Legacy Trust UK, Arts Council England and the Cultural Activity Partnership Scheme, Leicester City Council. Whispers From a Rickshaw has also been recognised as part of the London 2012 Inspire programme.
