The City of Leicester Museums’ Trust was set up in 1930 to
purchase a wide range of objects for Leicester Museums & Galleries and it
continues to carry out this important role today.
It relies mainly on the proceeds from public
donation boxes at all museum and gallery sites to fund its work, together with
private donations and bequests. The
Trust’s funds are often increased in value through successful grant applications
to a range of other funding bodies. The
Trust is a registered Charity and regulated by the Charity Commission.
There are a maximum of six Trustees and each Trustee serves
a 5 year term of office. Trustees are
individuals who through residence, occupation, employment or otherwise are able
to make a contribution to the purpose or management of the Trust. The role of a Trustee is a completely
voluntary one. Trustees receive no
remuneration or expenses.
