Aylestone Hall Bowling Club

Aylestone Hall Mens Bowling Club was founded in September 1952 with a view to commencing match fixtures in the summer of 1953.  However, the greens were not ready for play until 1954, but Messrs Stead & Simpson allowed the club to play their home matches on their green, in order that the club could be established. The first official match was played at Countesthorpe, when one or two players were 'borrowed', including a lady from Blaby.  This match was won and was the first of many successes for the club over the years.

In 1955 there was a request for a Ladies Section, which was approved by the General Committee.  Also in that year the club reached the final of the Bramley Bowls Competition, going on to win in 1962, 1985 and 1999.  Further successes include winning the Wilson Shield in 1985 and 1990 and the South Leicestershire Triples League in 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994 and 1995.

In 2004 the club celebrated 50th Anniversary which also saw an upgrade of facilities after the council decided to convert the main building to residential, which has resulted in a new club house and greens protected by fencing.

New members are welcomed and casual bowling is encouraged at the following times:-
