Friends of Abbey Park

Abbey Park is Leicester's Premier Park.  The 'Friends of Abbey Park' are a voluntary group with a keen interest in the upkeep of the park and in helping towards making it an attractive and safe place for people to visit and enjoy.

We work with the City Council to promote the park and raise awareness of its attractions amongst Leicester residents and visitors alike.

The group has raised money through various donations and events.  Some of the money has been used to provide improvements within the Pets Corner area; along the Woodland Walk; and a new litter bin on 'The Mound'.  Bird boxes have been bought, sponsored and placed around the park.

Events over the previous 2 years have included:

  • Butterfly Day
  • Bug Hunts
  • Star Gazing Events
  • Christmas Wreath Making
  • Tea & Coffee Stalls
  • Easter Egg Hunts
  • Halloween Events

We also play an active part in the 'Love Parks Week', an annual campaign organised by parks charity Greenspace.  Every year hundreds of events take place enabling thousands of people to get out and enjoy their parks, which helps put forward the case for reinvestment.  Why not come and join us?

If you wish to become a member or just want to know more about the group, please contact Parks Services on 0116 2221000
