Aylestone Hall Gardens

Beautiful Trees in the Gardens

Aylestone Road

These attractive gardens are situated on Aylestone Road, 3 miles south of the City centre within the Aylestone Village Conservation Area.

The gardens have been successful in winning another Green Flag Award in 2010 in recognition of achieving the national standard for parks and green spaces in England and Wales.

How To Get There

History

The 1.8 hectare gardens surround Aylestone Hall.  This Grade II listed building dates from the 15th century with many later alterations.  Originally built for the Vernon family, the hall and it's grounds were purchased by Leicester Corporation in 1950 and extensive renovation was carried out in 2003 to create private accommodation.  A curious feature on the south wall of the hall is a carved head interpreted by some, as the moment of birth of a child.
