10,000 Trees Project

10000 trees

The Project

The 10,0000 Trees project  was an exciting initiative that saw over 10,000 new trees planted across the Leicester from 2007 until Spring 2011. In 1990 Leicester was recognised as Britain's first 'Environment City'. Since then the City Council has played an active role in encouraging and supporting measures which protect our environment. This ambitious project was one of our key environmental pledges and has significantly increased the number of trees in our city. Working in partnership with Groundwork Leicester & Leicestershire, we've made Leicester a cleaner and greener place to live by planting trees in our streets, parks and schools.
