Private or public land (you must have the landowners permission before starting)
A front garden or communal area within a flat complex
Shopping area, leisure centre, library school etc.

What do I need to do to get started?

Form your group, decide on a name
Think of a project.
Contact your Leicester Co-ordinator Penny Brown 0116 273 9992 to guide you through the next steps before you register.

What happens when we register?

The East Midlands in Bloom Secretary will confirm your entry.
An Assessor will visit your group in July
Your group will receive a Royal Horticultural Society certificate showing points awarded, based on your groups achievements so far.

 

What are the benefits?

Cleaner and greener surroundings.
Developing a sense of community and creating positive interaction between community members.
Safer environments for the enjoyment of local people.
Reduction in anti-social behaviour.
Increased civic pride as local people take ownership of the improvements to the area.
Positive effect on the local economy such as increased commercial enterprise.
Helping the environment through recycling, improving / adding green spaces and other sustainable practices.
Greater community contact / relationship with the local community.

What support can we receive?

Guidance and support from your local Leicester Co-ordinator.
Support from Royal Horticultural Society and East Midlands in Bloom, all of which have many years of experience and advice, including online horticultural information.
Advisory visits from Assessors.
Funding guidance and advice both locally and nationally.
