Swimming

Swimming is a great way to exercise - it works muscles all over your body.  A gentle swim can burn over 200 Kcal in half an hour.  Swimming is also a non-weight bearing activity, so is good for people with injuries and conditions such as arthritis

Seven of our centres have swimming pools:

Pools are open at different times at different centres. Find out about swimming at a centre near you.

Learn to swim

Whether you are young or old you can learn to swim with Leicester City Council. Our swimming lessons are all taught by ASA qualified teachers at all seven city pools. Lessons are held 50 weeks of the year, throughout the week, so you are sure to find a time that suits you and your family.

How much do lessons cost?

For children, 30 minute class lessons are £4.32 each for a series of ten lessons. Payment can be made for all ten lessons (£43.20) or by monthly Direct Debit (£18).

Adult group lessons also last 30 minutes and cost £6.15 each. Payment must be made for all ten lessons (£61.50) at once.
