The Workforce Development Unit Social Care is committed to supporting social work & social care staff in Leicester City who work with children and young people to meet their learning potential and to provide an excellent service to the children and young people of Leicester.
We co-ordinate Diploma's (the replacement for NVQs) and ensure Foster Carers meet the CWDC’s standards.
We co-ordinate, support and assess social work students on placements and sponsor staff to undertake the Social Work Degree (BA and MA level). Once qualified, we will support you in your first year of employment with the Newly Qualified Social Workers (NQSW) project and then via the CWDC's Early Professional Development (EPD) Project. You’ll then be ready to undertake the Post Qualifying Specialist Award in Child Care practice and train to support and assess social work students and staff yourself.
In short we aim to support you through your career as a social care worker working with children and young people.
For workers in the private, independent, or voluntary sector can access further information and available training from the Children's Workforce Matters organisations.
