Leicester City Disabled Children’s Service Training Programme for Short Break Providers.
This training schedule is for parents/carers of disabled children and young people, social care staff/childcare providers and volunteers in Leicester who work with or are interested in working with disabled Children and Young People. The courses will enhance their training and knowledge of issues that affect disabled children and young people.
It is estimated that there are around 5000 disabled children and young people within Leicester city, many of who face constant barriers to short break services due to their disability. The young people and their families report a lack of adequate training as one of the major barriers to inclusion and the disabled children’s service are looking to redress this by providing ongoing training and support.
These courses will help you understand what you can do to support children and young people within your care.
We hope to develop the knowledge, understanding, skills and confidence of the children’s workforce so that we can better support our disabled children and young people to develop positive relationships and to access services
