Learning outcomes: (what you could expect to achieve)
Define mental health

Evaluate how personal values and beliefs affect perceptions and understanding of mental health/ill health

Demonstrate knowledge of what constitutes ‘mentally healthy’ for a child across developmental stages/years

Describe and evaluate risk/vulnerability factors that affect a child’s mental health

Describe and evaluate protective/resilience factors that affect a child’s mental health and different approaches to enhance/amplify them

Develop a greater awareness of the working frameworks of different agencies and explain how they can contribute to the promotion and management of mental health issues

Acknowledge own role in promoting mental health in children

Demonstrate increased confidence in identification of children with more specific needs and how they can support them

Demonstrate ability to co-work with other agencies and justify referral to another agency to meet the child/young person’s mental health needs
