Lots of ideas of different ways of communicating with children and young people.  Also includes ideas of games to play with young children who have communication difficulties.

Target group: Child care staff who work with young people who communicate with signs. This event is NOT suitable for people in the above role who work in the independent and voluntary sector.

 

Learning outcomes:  (what you could expect to achieve)

Many children with speech and language difficulties can benefit from the use of signs and symbols. This two-day course, devised by the Children’s Speech and Language Therapy Service, is aimed at the Professionals working with these children.

 

  • Introducing a model of communication (means, reasons and opportunities)

  • Teaching signs and symbols in topics

  • Practical activities using signs and symbols

  • Ideas for the classroom setting

  • Information on resources
