To learn about how people can be affected by bereavement. 

To look at strategies to prevent grief complications and ways of helping people when the grief process goes wrong.

Dates: 1st March 2012 

Target Group: People who work with or care for people with learning disabilities. This event is suitable for people in the above role who work in the independent & voluntary sector.

 

Learning outcomes:  (what you could expect to achieve)

To be able to describe the different type of losses people experience in their lives.

To understand the process of loss and bereavement.

To look at what bereaved people with a learning disability need and how we can support them.

To look creatively at communication.

To creatively explore life story work, reminiscence and bereavement.

 

 

 

N.B.  If someone has experienced loss in the last 18 months they may need to think carefully before coming on this course.
