Training Event

Title: Signalong Awareness

Dates: To be confirmed

Target Group: People who work with or care for people with learning disabilities. This event is suitable for people in the above role who work in the independent & voluntary sector.

Learning outcomes:  (what you could expect to achieve)

Signalong is a key word signing system and helps to empower adults and children who have difficulties with communication to express their needs, choices and wishes.

Signalong is based around British Sign Language and has been developed to help people who have communication difficulties mostly associated with learning disabilities.

The Signalong Awareness Workshop (4hours) is an

introduction to using this key word signing system. You will learn some of the basic vocabulary and hand shapes to get you started signing at work or home. Awareness sessions are aimed at people who have little or no experience of signing or want to learn some basic signs relevant to adults with learning disabilities.
