What we aim to do
The LSCDG aims to raise the quality of care and support provided to service users by improving the knowledge, skills, behaviours, attitudes and competence of social care workers.
It funds, commissions and co-ordinates the delivery of a range of learning, training and development opportunities to social care workers employed in the private, voluntary, statutory and independent sector, including workers who are directly employed by services users themselves.
The priorities for the learning, training and development activities are set by the LLR Sub Regional Workforce Group. This group has representative managers from the statutory, private, voluntary and independent providers and people employing their own staff. It meets quarterly. It looks at the national and the local requirements.
What we provide
The programme of events is shown in the LSCDG Calendar of Events.
The LSCDG organises a range of methods including training courses, conferences, summit events, workshops, e-Learning, mentoring for managers to put training into practice and qualifications.
The LSCDG administers the Training Activities Fund. An individual employer can apply for funding for training or development that is specifically for their organisation and that is not already funded.
The LSCDG administers the Workforce Development Fund on behalf of Skills for Care. This provides funding for the achievement of qualifications and competence units that are accredited on the Qualification Credit Framework.
