Domestic violence is an issue which can be impacted upon by many Council departments. Currently, domestic violence is featured within a number of strategies and plans in the Council:
- Domestic Violence Strategy 2009 - 2014 - This is the Leicester Inter-Agency Domestic Violence Strategy which has been agreed by all key partners. The document provides more information about the partnership working that is undertaken, local domestic violence statistics and areas for improvement.

Children and Young People’s Plan – Staying Safe is one of the five outcomes where work is being focused. The current priority is to safeguard children from abuse, neglect, the impact of crime, domestic violence, substance misuse and bullying.

Safeguarding Adults Annual Report 2006/07 found that 40% of alleged perpetrators were family members.
- Safer Leicester Partnership – Approximately a quarter of all violent crime is domestic violence related. Working to prevent, support and protect victims of domestic violence is a priority for the Safer Leicester Partnership.

Homelessness Strategy – Domestic violence is one of the top three reasons for people declaring themselves homeless in Leicester.
