What do we do?
Local authorities are responsible for all children who can’t live with their birth family. We identify the children who need to be adopted within our Local Authority, and work with their social workers to make the placements happen.
Over the years we have successfully placed an enormous amount of children with adoptive parents and as an Agency we continue to provide post adoption support in future years. We do this through further comprehensive advice and guidance, social events, newsletters, training events.
We know that our expertise means that our adopters feel valued and cared for:

You can have a chat and ask, in confidence, about anything you are unsure of.
Or, if you are ready we can help you through the next steps. We will record your details on a referral form and ask for your:
• Name
• Date of birth
• Ethnicity/Religion
• Address
• Contact details.
• Motivation to adopt
This information is treated as confidential, and will be kept securely.
If you go further with your enquiry, the referral form is the starting point of the 'case record' that we will maintain for you. This will continue for as long as we are involved.
Information is stored in a case file, which will include information about you; medical reports; reference checks as well as a record of all contacts and visits made by social workers and their assessment of your suitability to adopt.
If a placement is made we will keep information about the children placed with you. This complies with Adoption Agency Regulations, and with the Data Protection Act 1998.
What if I call when you are not there?
We have a 24 hour, confidential, answering machine – we will call you back the next working day.
What are your opening hours?
You can pop-in to the Adoption Centre which is open Monday to Friday from 9.00am to 4.00pm.
If you want to see a Duty worker from the adoption team for more information, you will need to visit the office between the hours of 10.00am and 2.00pm.
