Please note that Leicester City Council does not provide a Counselling service. However, there is some information about Counselling below, as well as advice on how to find and contact a counselling service.
How can Counselling help?
Everyone normally deals with stressful events by talking with their friends, families or other support networks. Sometimes, talking to an independent person can be more helpful.
Counselling or psychotherapy can be helpful for a wide range of difficulties such as:
- depression
- relationship problems
- stress
- anxiety or panic attacks
- low self esteem
- eating problems
- sexual problems
- bereavement and loss
- trauma resulting from accident, assault or loss
To find out more about counselling, and how to find a counsellor trained to meet your needs, contact NHS Direct or talk to your doctor (GP).
Leicester City Council does not offer a counselling service. However, sometimes we may identify the need for counselling for someone we are working with. In that case we will help them find a service to meet their particular needs.
