Employment Service

Aims and Objectives 

Employment Services are ‘Employment plus’ – supported employment project and ‘Workout’ – Work skills unit.

 

Overall Aim 

  • The aim is the service is to offer Adults with Learning Disabilities appropriate support to explore and access a variety of meaningful work opportunities within the City of Leicester

 

Objectives 

  • To take referrals from commissioning workers that meets the FACS criteria.

 

  • Respond swiftly and effectively to referrals

 

  • To provide a high quality, flexible, person centred service, which is monitored, reviewed and evaluated

 

  • To work in a Person Centred Approach to establish what type of work the individual has an interest in, taking into consideration experience, knowledge, strengths and needs etc.

 

  • To sign post individuals to alternative agencies if necessary.

 

  • To support individuals in a variety of ways to maximise they’re potential.

 

  • Inform and include individuals, parents, carers, other professionals in the decision making process.

 

  • To liaise with local business to get to know the current labour market.

 

  • To work in partnership with the voluntary sector and other employment agencies.

 

  • To offer taster sessions.

 

  • Support individuals to become independent travellers.

 

  • Support with creating a CV.

 

  • Support to attend interviews.

 

  • Support and guidance to offer learning opportunities for individual task / activities linked with a particular job.

 

  • Monitor record and review placements.

The philosophy of the service is based on the Governments White Paper ‘Valuing People’ and we are committed to providing each service user with the appropriate support to enable them to exercise their rights as a human being, to be as independent as possible, and to have choice and control in their life and we will continue to work towards achieving social inclusion for all.
