Carers questions

Do carers get a Personal or Individual Budget?

No.  Carers may be entitled to a Carers Personal Budget (this was formerly known as Take a Break and CHARM).  The budget can be used to give carers support by providing help with tasks such as cleaning, gardening or minor repairs to the home and/or to provide respite care.

How do I get a Carers Personal Budget?

Carers need to complete a Carers Assessment to see if they are eligible for a Carers Personal Budget.

To complete an assessment carers should speak to their social worker or contact adult social care by telephoning 0116 252 7004 and ask to speak to the Older Persons Access Team (if the person they care for is 65 or over) or the Community Care Access Team.
