Introduction:

The Integrated Community Equipment Service is jointly funded by Leicester City Council, Leicestershire County Council, Rutland County Council and Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland NHS.

The service is operated on behalf of the partner organisations by Nottingham Rehab Supplies Limited (NRS).

Leicester City Council is the host commissioner for the service.

Most equipment is provided following an assessment of need by a Health or Social Care professional, such as Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Community Nurses, Home Care Workers.

The Integrated Community Equipment Service loans equipment to people of all ages to meet their assessed need and to support them in a period of rehabilitation or to help them to live independent and safer lives. Equipment is also loaned to support carers and home care workers to safely move and handle people in their own homes and to help community nurses to nurse people with a health need in their own home.

A range of equipment is available for :

  • Bathing
  • Toileting
  • Mobility
  • Moving & handling
  • Beds and pressure care

In addition to the standard stock range, health and social care professionals are also able to order items of special equipment, where appropriate, for their service users.

Equipment is provided and collected free of charge to service users. When the equipment is no longer required it can be returned for use by another service user.

8.00 a.m. – 6.00 p.m. Monday to Friday

What the service provides:

  • Delivery of equipment to a home address or alternative delivery address within Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland
  • A self collect facility within normal opening hours
  • Fitting and installation of equipment in the home, as requested by the Health or Social Care Professional
  • Maintenance of equipment to ensure statutory compliance
  • Collection service from the home address of equipment no longer required
  • Equipment can be returned to NRS within normal opening hours
  • Decontamination of returned equipment
  • Repair and refurbishment of equipment where viable

Community Equipment Catalogue

A catalogue of all equipment held on the contract is available for use by health and social care professionals who are authorised to access the service.

As well as the showing the equipment on contract, the catalogue also contains the operating procedures for the Service.

 

A range of reference documents and updates on the service is available on this page for health and social care professionals using the service.
