Working together for a brighter future for Leicester's Children and Young People

Please note this site and the pages it links to is currently under construction, please bear with us.

The Children Act 2004 meant that local authorities and partners were expected to work together to improve the well being of children and young people. Well being was defined by the five Every Child Matters Outcomes:

Being Healthy

Staying Safe

Enjoying and Achieving

Making a Positive Contribution

Enjoying Economic Well Being

Local authorities were required to take a lead in bringing together organisations delivering services to children and young people in a partnership known as Children’s Trusts. The purpose of the Children’s Trust is to ensure that services work together so that children and young people have better life chances and that the most disadvantaged receive the support they need.

Having reviewed its role, purpose and effectiveness, Leicester Children and Young People's Strategic Partnership (LCYPSP) has revised its governance and management arrangements.

As part of the change, LCYPSP has changed it's name to become "The Leicester Children's Trust Board".

The Board will have responsibility for preparing and, keeping under review, the city's Children and Young People's Plan (CYPP), which will be based on a strategic needs analysis and will identify measures to improve service impact and sustainability.

Further information about The Leicester Children’s Trust board will be posted here shortly. In the meantime, please direct any queries to Jane Taylor

The Joint Commissioning Board and ECM Thematic groups are partnerships that sit below and support LCYPSP in delivering the local priorities.
