The remit of the group is to ensure that schools are supported to implement the national agreement (NA), performance management (PM) and fair play for support staff. Members work together to ensure that the children’s workforce operating in school settings is well-supported and schools and the local authority take seriously their duty of care. The membership of the group includes representatives from employers, unions/professional associations, local authority, schools improvement and workforce development advisers. Their work programme supports the achievement of some of the priorities identified in the 2009/11 children and young people’s workforce strategy. WDLP has devised a self-evaluation form to assess the implementation, sustainability and impact of key aspects of the National Agreement in schools. This included work/life balance, leadership and management; continuing professional development; invigilation and rarely cover. The audit responses are being used to plan how schools, heads and chairs of governing bodies can be supported to sustain their initiatives.
