The Disabled Children and Young People's Programme Board has built on work originally carried out by the Health Action Zone.
It is a multi-agency commissioning group that looks at all issues affecting disabled children, young people, their parent/carers.
The Board has adopted a wide definition of childhood disability which is designed to be inclusive and it reflects the National Service Framework definition. It includes:

Emotional/behavioural
It also includes children and young people with significant special educational needs.
The DCYPPB has an agreed Action Plan which is complimented by a Transitions Plan both of which have been designed to meet NSF priorities and Every Child Matters Outcomes. The DCYPPB also hosts the disabled children's database:

InfoXchange – which provides a register of disabled children, young people and their carers. It offers empowering information to parents and carers and planning information to professionals and agencies.
Services include a tailored information pack to all members, regular newsletters, website infoxchange.org.uk, information signposting services.
