What is it?

The £9million park and ride scheme based at Enderby, Leicestershire is a joint Leicester City Council and Leicestershire County Council project.

It offers parking for 1,000 cars and low-emission buses running every 10 minutes between Enderby and Leicester city centre (from 7am to 7pm, Mondays to Saturdays).

Where is it located?

The Enderby site is close to junction 21 of the M1.

One of the main stops on the route is the newly-created bus hub at St Nicholas Place, Leicester, as well as stops at Leicester Royal Infirmary and De Montfort University.

When did it start?

Monday 16th November 2009.

Where does it go?

The route from Enderby will take passengers into the city via Grove Park, along Lubbesthorpe Way and Hinckley Road and into St Nicholas Place.

Once in the city, the service takes in bus stops along:

  • Southgates
  • Newarke Street
  • Pocklingtons Walk
  • Horsefair Street
  • Bowling Green Street
  • Belvoir Street
  • Welford Road
  • Infirmary Road
  • Oxford Street
  • and back towards St Nicholas Circle.

How does it cost?

Ticket prices vary - more information can be found at Enderby Park and Ride.

What is at St Nicholas Place?
The St Nicholas Place bus hub has been built to accommodate buses from the new service and those from the park and ride at Meynell’s Gorse.

It features three new bus shelters, seating and access to the Star Trak bus timetable system.

What are the benefits of using the service?

The scheme aims to help reduce the number of cars on the road and make it easier to travel into Leicester city centre.

Public transport services using low-emission buses also offer sustainable alternatives to using cars, as well as reducing the amount of traffic entering the city from the M1 junction 21 exit.
