Who is eligible?
Women of state pension age and men of the same age as women of state pension age and are living in Leicester. For more detail download the table of dates of eligibility at the bottom of this page.
If you have a disabled person's concession you cannot have a senior citizen’s pass as well. However, the disabled persons' passes have greater validity, so if you are a senior citizen with a disability, it is more advantageous to apply for a disabled person's pass.
What benefits will the pass give me?
The pass can be used for free or reduced rates of travel, on buses and trains in Leicestershire and into neighbouring counties and on local buses throughout England.
What services can they be used on?
Buses
The pass can be used for free travel on buses in Leicester and on local buses throughout England, between 9.30 am and 11.00 pm on Mondays to Fridays and all day on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays. Additionally, the pass will entitle you to half fare bus travel before 9.30 am and free bus travel between 11pm and midnight on Mondays to Fridays, if the journey starts in Leicester.
Trains
The pass entitles you to half fare travel on local trains, on journeys from Leicester Station as far as Derby, Nottingham, Peterborough, Kettering or Nuneaton and back.

How long are the passes valid for?
Passes will be dated to expire 5 years after the issue date. You will be advised of how to renew your pass nearer the time.
Is there a charge for the concession?
There is no charge for concessions.

In person collect an application form from one of the Leicester City Council Customer Service Centres. If you are eligible and take the correct documentation a National Travel Pass can be issued that day.

Your proof of entitlement will be returned to you with your pass.

How do I renew my pass?
If your pass is due to expire (your pass will have an expiry date on it) or your circumstances have changed either visit or contact one of the Customer Service Centres.
If your pass has become worn or damaged take it to Leicester City Council Customer Services where a replacement pass will be issued while you wait. Or write to:
