Pollution car exhaust

To help us produce our Local Transport Plan 3, we've looked at our own research and information from the Department for Transport and others to develop a clear picture of Leicester.

We've looked in detail at:

  • our transport system (roads, bus services, walking and cycling)

  • road accidents in Leicester

  • how our transport system supports Leicester’s economy, including,

o   how people travel to work

     o   congestion

  • the impact of our transport system on our residents, for example,

o   in terms of health and pollution

o   how easy it is for people to get to places like shops and colleges

  • the impact of our transport system on our environment

o   how much transport contributes to levels of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) gas.

The city council, residents, businesses and its partners, will need to work together to tackle Leicester’s transport challenges so Leicester remains a relatively prosperous, safe and healthy place in the future.
