Energy at home

Energy efficiency is about making sure the energy that goes into heating, lighting and providing power in your home is not wasted.

Further information

Our Home Energy Office has been set up to tackle the issues around fuel poverty and affordable warmth. We provide advice and assistance to private sector households wishing to implement energy efficient measures into their homes.

How can we help?

  • General advice on energy efficiency and referral to grant-aided schemes for free insulation and heating measures where applicable.
  • Cost illustrations and comparisons - we use a schedule of rates to ensure accurate and competitive quotations can be obtained for works.
  • Gas Safe registered contractors - all of  our heating contractors are Gas Safe registered and provide good customer care and after-sales support.
  • Supervision of works - we can offer a full specification and contract administration of any works you may wish to carry out.

What energy efficiency schemes are currently available?

Energy Sense

This scheme offers householders a free home visit to provide an energy audit of your property, together with advice, recommendations on measures and product availability.

Health Through Warmth scheme (HTW)

Npower's HTW scheme offers help to people in England and Wales who have long-term illnesses and are finding it hard to fund heating and insulation measures in their homes. This could be due to low income, little or no savings (assessed). Clients don't have to be or become an npower customer, to receive help.

HTW will check to make sure the person is eligible, so they'll have to fill in in some forms about their income, expenditure and other details.

HTW can help with the following:

  • Cavity wall and loft insulation
  • Boiler repairs and replacement (if broken)
  • Heating systems or appliances
  • Energy efficiency advice
  • Access to funding
