Sexual health

Leicester Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA). Health and social care needs associated with sexual health, 2016.

Most adults are sexually active and good sexual health is important to individuals and communities. Poor sexual health can lead to unintended pregnancies, sexually transmitted infections and in some cases death. All age groups are susceptible to the effects of poor sexual health and it can have a protracted and severe effect on quality of life. It is essential that individuals are educated so they can make informed choices in sexual relationships and have appropriate access to services when in need.

The following chapter further details the level of need in the population, current services in place, project service use, any service gaps and recommendations for commissioners.
