Garden waste bin

We can collect garden waste, such as leaves, twigs and grass cuttings, fortnightly on Mondays between March and November. Subscriptions need to be renewed every 12 months.

How much does it cost?

  • £63 for a 12 month subscription or £58 for direct debit
  • Additional bins: £26 each

  • Flowers

Renewing your subscription

Subscriptions need to be renewed every 12 months. You are able to renew your existing subscription online as soon as you receive your renewal invoice, using the quick link above. If you have set up an annual direct debit you do not need to do anything, your payment will be taken automatically on your renewal date.

We will send renewal information to you prior to your renewal date.

When do collections take place?

Your green bin will be emptied fortnightly on Mondays. Please check the calendars below for your collection dates.

Account information

Use our account information section to find out if you have set up a direct debit for your account, download your garden waste calendar and check your next collection date. You can also change your account preferences to go paperless so that you receive your billing information and calendar by email. You will need your garden waste customer reference number for this service.

Which calendar applies to me?

  • Calendar A - Monday collection calendar for customers with Tuesday or Wednesday refuse collections
  • Calendar B - Monday collection calendar for customers with Thursday or Friday refuse collections

After you have signed up, we will deliver a green wheeled bin and a collection calendar.

No, all material must be put loose into the bin. The facility the garden waste is sent to, cannot process any plastic bags or compostable/biodegradable bags.

No, only material contained within the bin will be taken. If you are producing a lot of garden waste you can purchase additional bin subscriptions. 

If your bin was put out before 7am on collection day and contained the correct items, you can report that your bin was missed online using My Account - report missed bin.

If you wish to cancel your subscription, please email us at gardenwaste@leicester.gov.uk

If you move to another property within Leicester city, please take your green bin with you. Once you have advised us of your new address, you can continue to use your bin as normal.

If you move out of Leicester city, please do not take your green bin with you. Please inform us, so we can cancel your service and collect the bin. Send us an email at gardenwaste@leicester.gov.uk.
