This year’s Diwali celebrations in Leicester are shaping up again to be amongst the best ever, running from 28 October to 11 November. Our famous lights switch-on took place on Sunday 28 October and will again be celebrated on Diwali Day, Wednesday 7 November.
Belgrave’s Golden Mile has been set alive with the sights and sounds of Diwali, with the arrival of the 110-foot Wheel of Light ferris wheel which will operate from October 28 to November 11.
On Sunday 28 October, Leicester's world-famous Diwali switch-on was attended by tens of thousands people, making it the biggest Diwali celebration outside India. A full stage show delighted the crowds with music and dance performances, to get everyone into the spirit of the occasion.
There will also be a wider programme of events taking place across the city, including creative workshops, temple visits, live performances, fashion shows and exhibitions.
Full details of all the events are available at visitleicester.info.
A Diwali 2018 guide will soon be widely available from the Visit Leicester centre in Gallowtree Gate, as well as customer service centres, libraries, shops and cafes.
