Leicester’s ever popular open exhibition, now in its 29th year, showcases contemporary artwork and craft by local and regional artists. The exhibition is a great opportunity for both amateur and professional artists to showcase their skills.
What is the Open exhibition?
The annual Open exhibition is the city's premier showcase for visual art within the city, celebrating the rich and diverse skills of our local artists.
The Open exhibition, including the outstanding Youth category (ages 5 – 19), provides an excellent opportunity for artists from both amateur and professional backgrounds to demonstrate their artistic skills and creative vision.
The exhibition offers a number of artist prizes to be won including exhibition opportunities, print workshops, materials and cash prizes, chosen by our sponsors from an array of cultural and commercial organisations.
What type of work can I submit?
Your entry can be a sculpture, paintings, drawings, prints, photographs, film, audio and applied arts.
How do I submit my entry?
Entries should be made online, by submitting digital images of your works along with your online application using the quick link above. Entry fees apply - see terms and conditions below.
What are the categories?
- Youth category (age 5-19)
- Adult category (age 19+).
You must also live or study in the East Midlands, (Leicestershire, Rutland, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire or Northamptonshire).
When is the deadline for entries?
You can submit your entries until the closing date - Monday 29 October 2018.
When will the exhibition be open to the public?
This year’s exhibition opens 15 December 2018 and runs until 2 February 2019 at New Walk Museum and Art Gallery, Leicester.
The prize giving for winning entries will be on Friday 14 December 2018.
