Who we are and what we have achieved
The Friends of Jewry Wall Museum first met in 2004 and now have over 150 members. In 2012, The Friends of Jewry Wall Museum were the regional winners of the Marsh Trust Award which is given for volunteer contributions to new museum learning. In 2017, alongside the city council, the Friends successfully submitted a bid for Heritage Lottery Funding with the Friends contributing £4000. We were awarded £54,500 for a project called Telling the Jewry Wall Story. Since then we have been working with the council on several projects to improve the experience for visitors to the site.
Our Roman Trail leaflet has been most successful and can be picked up for free at all the Leicester museums and the Visit Leicester Information Centre. It is a self-guided tour helping that explores the fascinating story of the Romans in Leicester. We have also developed an website and app that can be enjoyed by children and adults alike. You can find this on the Jewry Wall Story website.
