Community-based programmes such as Active Leicester: Braunstone and Rowley Fields work with local people to get them more active.
Active Leicester: Braunstone and Rowley Fields delivers a timetable of free physical activity sessions each week. These sessions aim to get people active who are currently doing no physical activity. The project also provides opportunities to gain free qualifications and experience through volunteering.
Active communities work best when local people get involved. Volunteering can be rewarding, and can help you make new friends and give back to the community, as well as gaining valuable experience.
Volunteering within Active Leicester can include helping with activity sessions, joining a regular volunteering scheme or promoting activities in your area.

Active Leicester: Braunstone and Rowley Fields is the first project of its kind in the city. It is hoped that other areas will use this scheme as a template for their own projects in future.
