Universal Credit to be rolled out in Leicester
Universal Credit is a new benefit which replaces six existing benefits and is being rolled out by the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) in Leicester from 13 June 2018.
The June 13 rollout will affect all new claims. If you are already claiming and receiving benefits, you don’t need to do anything – they will continue as usual for now.
The overall scheme is administered by the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) and eventually you will need to make claims online via the DWP website.

What will Universal Credit replace?
Universal Credit will replace six existing benefits:
- Income based jobseeker’s allowance
- Income related employment and support allowance
- Income support
- Working tax credit
- Child tax credit
- Housing benefit.
