Christmas opening hours

DETAILS of Leicester City Council's opening hours over the Christmas and New Year holiday period are now available to view online.
The city council's customer service centres and main switchboard will be closed or operating on slightly reduced hours over the festive season.
The centres, based in Granby Street, Saffron Lane, New Parks and Charnwood, and main switchboard will be closed on December 24, 25, 26, 27, 28 and January 1 and 2. In addition, they will all close early, at 5pm (4.30pm for New Parks) on December 30 and 4.30pm on December 31.
Most waste and recycling collections will be unchanged over the festive period, except ones that fall on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. There will also be an alteration to collections on December 29. Arrangements for these days are as follows:
- Friday 25 December – collections will be moved to December 29
- Tuesday 29 December – collections moved to January 5
- Friday 1 January – next collection is on Friday 8 January
The council's household waste recycling centres at Gypsum Close and Freemen's Common will close early at 2pm on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. They will also be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

City Libraries will be closed on December 24, 25, 26, 27 and 28 and on January 1. They will be open as normal on Tuesday 29 and 30, with an early closure of 4pm on December 31. Normal hours will resume on January 2.
In addition, St Matthew's Library will close earlier than usual (at 4.30pm) on December 21, 22, 23, 29 and 30. It will also close at 4pm on December 31. The library will close on the same days as all other city libraries, with the exception that there will be an additional closure day on January 2.
