Discover Christmas gift ideas at Visit Leicester
Published on 23 November 2017
IT’S not too late to pick up a decoration that will give your tree a uniquely Leicester look this Christmas – but the elegant glass baubles featuring the city’s skyline are selling fast.
Staff at Visit Leicester have sold more than 150 of the hand-painted baubles so far, with customers snapping them up for themselves – or as unusual gifts for friends and family at home and abroad.
But with less than 100 left in stock, time is running out for anyone hoping to pick up the Leicester bauble as a stocking filler.
Operations officer Rachel Fraser-Orton said: “We’re really pleased with our range of Christmas merchandise this year and have got some beautifully designed goods on sale.
“The hand-painted bauble – at £12.50 – is selling well, but we’re getting lots of interest in all of our Leicester-branded items.
“People are buying mugs, t-shirts and fridge magnets for friends and family who may have moved away from Leicester – but we’re also finding proud Leicester people buying Leicester items for themselves!”
Gifts waiting to be discovered at Visit Leicester this Christmas include ideas for all ages and all budgets.
People can pick up a pack of Leicester Top Trumps (£5.99) as a stocking filler or splash out on a cushion featuring the Leicester skyline for £35.
Gourmet sweets – with a Leicester label – start at £2.75, while a pouch of Gin & Tonic-flavoured sweets costs £4.50.
Leicester mugs – featuring artwork from the city’s Christmas advertising campaign – are priced at £9.50, and presents that are easy to pop in the post, such as t-shirts (£20) and tea towels (£9.50), are selling well too.
There are even Leicester Christmas cards (from £2.75) and rolls of wrapping paper (£2.75) and ribbon (£4.50 for three metres).
Tickets for sessions on Leicester’s Christmas ice rink – which opens on 9 December – also make good presents and can be booked at Visit Leicester.
Visit Leicester will be open until 8pm today (Thursday 23 November) as Leicester's Christmas lights are switched on.
Normal opening hours are 9.30am-5.30pm from Monday to Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sundays.
